"As life is currently a spinning melting pot, so too, was my inspiration. The La Frange (The Fringe) collection is the synergy of multi-facted ideas. Local art, catwalk fashion, graffiti and nature all played a part in influencing my collection. My starting point was some of the fashion pieces on catwalk shows in London and Paris. Then in Australia, Sass and Bide really captured my imagination. I’m loving the texture in their latest designs. All sort of art also inspired the textures and complex colours that I selected to embellish the precision-cut, commercial hairstyles."
The idea for this collection is based on the increasingly prevalent concept of Artificial Intelligence and how that juxtaposes with the natural world. In light of the inevitable onset of machines performing the functions of the human mind, the vision springs from this unique moment in time.

It was created by using the new Insight Capsule colours, with tones of Mink, Rouge and Bronze using my colour blocking technique. We explored each haircut shape and created a fresh wearable texture which we feel is current and will suit varying lengths and styles. The collection is inspired by the simplicity of colour blocking that can be subtle and interesting, or bold and daring. The possibilities with this technique are endless and I love the fact that it’s so versatile.
"I found my inspiration from the Flamenco Dancers of Spain. Notably, they’re costumes & headdresses. The textures of laces, the bold patterns & color choices, the ruffles on the hems of their dresses, all these I tried to bring into each hairstyle. Traditionally one tends to think of sleek, tight hair buns and hairstyles when they think of Flamenco dancer’s hair, I wanted to show the juxtaposition between their usual hairstyles and the costuming."- Trey Gillen
